Overtrained and Stuck In a Rut
Prior to working with us, Brenna was training multiple times a day, she was eating strict Paleo and although she was putting in the work, she just wasn’t getting the results she wanted. Plus, she felt sore and bloated all-the-time.
“I tend to be all over the place trying this and that [with my training]. I knew I had specific areas that I needed to work on, but didn’t know how to go about it. I had tried doing 2 a day workouts, a squat program, and different online workouts. However, I had specific goals and always felt I was missing out and basically lost. I wanted to have a “plan” and follow thru with it.”
We had her drop those two-a-day sessions and created a program that targeted her specific goals: leaning out and improving in the CrossFit Open. Not only that, but we worked with her to add a little more flexibility to her nutrition and eliminated the source of all that bloating.
Not only did she lean out, but she also made the CrossFit Games Masters Qualifier!

Why did you decide to hire a coach?
“While on vacation in Florida I met this awesome 61 year old crossfit games athlete at the local crossfit gym. She asked if I wanted to workout separately and do her individual programming. Of course I was in! What an inspiration. However, what I learned in those 3 weeks after using her private coaching was more than I even bargained for. I felt different. Stronger. I decided to hire her coach ( Nicole and Brandon) because, honestly, I tend to be all over the place trying this and that. How does your training differ now that you are following an individual program?
“I feel stronger and less pain on my body. Before I would do 100% effort metcons all the time 4 days a week. My “older” body could not handle it. I started getting injuries and getting out of the bed started to be a struggle, but I believed the phrase “no pain no gain!” Now my body does not feel like I have been hit by a truck. I like having days where I concentrate on my strength which I definitely needed, and then days where I do more conditioning. Working out alone has been an adjustment, but really makes you push yourself instead of relying on a class to push you. I have also learned to video myself which I never did. What an amazing tool! Really allows you to see where you need improvement.”
How has your nutrition changed?
“That was a big one for me! I am a really clean eater! Poster child for the super healthy “foodie” type, yet still felt a bit bloated around the middle and chalked it up to being “older”. After having Nicole and Brandon monitor my nutrition and tweak it, I have noticed a HUGE change in my body and how I feel. I realized I was eating way to much and not enough of the right macro ratios. In fact I did not know what a Macro was! What an eye opener!”
Would you recommend this to others? Who? …and Why?
“I would absolutely recommend to others! In fact, I talk about Nicole and Brandon to everyone (even total strangers) I am so excited about my improvements I want everyone to experience it. I would recommend to anyone who wants to see results on fitness or nutrition. This is not just for the super crossfit athlete. I feel anyone could benefit. I have two teenage boys who are benefiting from what I have learned on the nutrition. So seriously anyone could benefit. The young and the old. I would want others to feel the way I feel. Encouraged, more knowledgeable and strong. What a great feeling to have at 48 years old! Or any age!”
