“My lifts aren’t going up like they used to…”
“Why are pull ups sooooo hard for me?!?!”
You don’t have to accept training plateaus. You can get stronger and faster, but if you’re stuck now, you need to do something different to get back on track.
I can’t tell you how many times a new client painfully describes how their squat or some other lift has been stuck in the same place for over 6 months, only to see them crushing new PRs only a month or two later.
Don’t take my word for it though, here is what a couple of our clients have had to say about their experience:
“My training has hit whole new levels since I started an individualized program. I keep hitting new numbers as if I was just starting out and still see lots more to come.” -Jenni B.
“After being at a plateau for the previous year, it feels amazing to make these kind of gains……& who knew you could actually continue to make progress as a masters athlete? I’m stronger, faster, & more fit than I’ve ever been!” -Natalie M.
How did Jenni and Natalie go from plateau to progress so quickly?
Well, when you’re first getting started with fitness, you can basically do anything and get results. CrossFit, Powerlifting, Yoga, Zumba… you name it, they all work. You’re having fun, you’re making progress, everything is great. At some point though, maybe a year or two in, your progress grinds to a halt. You’re no longer getting stronger, faster and / or leaner like you used to. This is the point where most get frustrated, burn out and ultimately give up.
Don’t give up though, you can get back on track!
How? Well, this isn’t the point in your fitness where you can just put your head down, grind it out and expect better results. More of the same isn’t better! As the saying goes, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. Don’t be insane 😉
This is when what you’re doing in your training becomes important. When the injuries from your past, your strength imbalances and movement issues all catch up with you and conspire to stall out your progress. This is the point where a program that accounts for all of these things that make you uniquely who you are and is also laser focused on your specific goal, whether that be getting leaner, getting stronger or getting healthier, is of the upmost importance.
How does it feel when all of these pieces come together? Pretty damn good. But again, don’t take my word for it, take a look at how our clients describe it…
“The biggest difference in my training is that it is now consistent. Prior to my individualized program, I tended to hop from program to program, almost cherry picking my workouts. Now, the training is broken into cycles, with testing and maintenance that is constantly monitored and tweaked to my needs. Before, I would train myself into the ground, making recovery difficult and almost setting myself up to fail. Now, my training is smart, to my ability, and programmed so that it does not set me up to fail.” – Mike S.
“I love how you easily picked out my weaknesses, & know how to strengthen them. You’re methodically helping me achieve my goals & are always quick to answer any questions I have. I highly recommend EBA to anyone wanting to make progress, get over plateaus, get stronger, & be a better athlete. “- Natalie M.
It’s silly to think training optimized to turn you into a strength machine is the same as the training optimized to get your looking lean and mean. These are two very different programs and we know how to structure them in a way that best suited for your unique needs.
We’ve worked with clients ranging from CrossFit games and NFL athletes looking to squeeze out every last bit of performance to everyday, working professionals wanting to look and feel better. Let us put that experience to work for you with a custom training program and the coaching that goes along with it.
Take a look at the goals we’ve helped a handful of recent clients achieve:
When Shanghai-based client, Erwin R. first started focusing on his strict muscle ups, he could get a couple shaky reps. Pictured above is him hitting 10 solid, consecutive strict muscle ups. Click the picture for the full video!
Arizona-based client Mel H. is a masters powerlifter that worked with us as a part of her meet preparation. The chart above is a snapshot showing her massive deadlift PR in the lead up to a competition.
This is Arizona-based client Jessica S. One her goals was to get her first strict pull up. After a couple months of targeted training she was easily able to knock out her pull up, in fact, she actually did two consecutive strict reps! Click the picture above to see a video if you’d like.
